My name is Hilary Keck and I am a Mixed Media Artist living in Indiana.
I have loved to create for as long as I can remember. I still remember painting on the first day of preschool. I had my very own easel, smock, and cup of red paint.
I graduated high school in 2008 and in the time since then I have been on a journey to find my purpose and path. I went to art school for a semester, took a few college classes, and worked various jobs. I spent many years not listening to my inner voice. I made decisions out of fear. I chose what was easy, what others would approve of. During the summer of 2013, I began to paint again. I experimented with watercolors, gouache, and acrylics. I found mixed media and everything changed. I discovered that I loved the process; layers of paint and paper, texture, and getting my hands messy. A dream I had tucked in my heart for a long time began to come to life. I bought a scanner, printer, and Photoshop with the dream of opening an online shop to sell my art. I slowly began to paint in my spare time, slowly working towards my dream. Then in March 2014, with some planning and a big leap of faith, I quit my full-time job to pursue my art full-time.
“The moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.” – Goethe
Since taking the leap I have been excited, scared, happy, overwhelmed, but mostly grateful. I really believe we all deserve to be happy, fulfilled, and to live the life of our dreams. I am finally living my dream and I hope in some way I can inspire you on your own journey. Thank you for visiting.
